I’m always interested in learning about the latest “tools” that are out there in the fitness market. I try to keep an open mind and try out equipment before I pass judgement or consider adding it into my programming.

At the end of the day, we have plenty of options to get the job done. Grab a bar and some plates and you could accomplish most of your fitness-related goals. Grab a kettlebell and start swinging and you’ll see improvements. Or simply take yourself and no equipment at all to the local park for sprints, pushups, and pull-ups, and you’d be doing more than most.

That said, there are newer products that come along that I like (Havyk for example), and that I feel will challenge my clients in safe, new ways and help them achieve their goals.

One such product is the CrossRopes – an elite jump rope system. This is not a paid endorsement…I simply heard good things about them, got a set, and started jumping. I also had some of my clients and athletes “play” around with the different cables to get their feedback too. Generally speaking, the cables come in 7 different weights with 2 different handles. The varying weights allow you to target different goals. Learn more about the system HERE.

This video clip includes some of the MMA athletes trying out a few of the ropes for the first time. I also included two of our guys trying out the “Titan Challenge”. The Titan is the 3 pound cable…set a timer for 60 seconds and see how many jumps you can get. Our facility goal is 100 reps. About half of the guys have hit it so far. Sure, it’s only 3 pounds, but it’s a lot harder than you think. Happy jumping.
