It doesn’t have to be a strict periodized program each and every session. No heart rate monitors, no HRV monitoring…just get in there and move. Of course, having quality training partners is always vital.
This challenge is a fun “finisher” to put in at the end of a session. Two athletes, two towels, and the goal is to get your partner’s “tail” before they get yours. Stay in a 5-yard circle and play until one person hits 5. Loser buys lunch.

Doug Balzarini, CSCS, MMA-CC, is the owner of DB Strength, which provides fitness training, education, and resources. He has produced his 2 DVD projects on strength training for combat athletes, appeared in many fitness videos and articles, and was a coach on “The Ultimate Fighter” FOX TV show in 2012.
